Fun ways to do your taxes

April 6, 2005 7:59 PM

I find doing my taxes to be fairly boring.

Any suggestions for how to make it more fun?

Only use numbers that, when turned upside down, read a words, such as 55178 or 58OO8.

Fill out tax forms for other countries, and rank them in order of size of return.

Use Rasterbator (see link) to print each page of your tax return the size of a large poster. Note: postage won't be cheap.

Include an oversized check like they use when giving away sweepstakes. Deliver to the IRS in person, with balloons, confetti, a marching band, and, if available, Ed Mcmahon.

Record yourself and a buddy reading your tax forms, along with commentary and badly timed music. Post online an MP3 and WMA. Send IRS a link to the files. Congrats - the first tax filing via Podcast. PodTax? TaxCast?

Sprinkle fake blood and hair on a couple of the pages. Write off various torture devices.

I find it most gratifying to just lie about everything. Tell 'em you made several million, have several hundred-grand in exemptions, and make it look like you keep most of the non-profits in your county in business. Who cares about the bill!!?? By the time the IRS catches on, your ass is halfway to Canada or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Pat yourself on the back for your humanitarian efforts and sip a tottie as the sun goes down.

Experiment with different writing implements. Crayons, calligraphy, whatever floats your boat.
